GD Tuition School

My Vision

My vision

At GD Tuition, I know that when learning becomes fun, motivation grows, and good results are sure to follow. That's why I have two aims for every session:

1) Make sure your child is more proficient and confident than when they walked in; and

2) Make sure they have developed their love of learning.

I utilise a mixture of screen-based and paper-based learning to constantly assess where your child is at and what their next steps should be, using what I learn about your child to create a personalised, progressive scheme of learning.

Research has consistently found that children learn best when they are with their peers and that's why I opt to deliver small group sessions so that children have the opportunity to learn together, while also ensuring that they get the required support and guidance from the qualified teacher leading the sessions.

All group sessions take place in dedicated hired spaces, which puts children in the right mindset for learning. 1:1 sessions typically take place in the child's home, but alternative arrangements can be made if required.

About Me

My name is Gavin Duffy and I am a fully qualified teacher, with 15 years experience.

During my teaching career, I have taught in both primary and secondary schools, where I taught maths up to A-Level. Throughout this time, I have consistently achieved excellent results with pupils of all abilities and ensured that children make exceptional levels of progress by taking the time to get to know what motivates each child, identifying gaps in their knowledge and developing learning to meet thier needs. I am fully DBS checked and have full public liability insurance.

Away from the classroom, I am Dad to two amazing young boys and a loving husband. I love to read, go for walks with my dog and be chief cheerleader at my son's football games or whenever my favourite team are on TV.

  • All of my sessions are offered in small groups of up to 5 children. This means that children have the opportunity to learn from their peers and work independently to consolidate learning as well as receiving direct input from me.

  • Each session will combine online and paper-based learning, enabling children to work independently on their personal learning targets, while receiving individual support from the teacher.

  • Sessions will take place at the family home or the Memorial Hall in Collingham, providing a dedicated learning space for children to focus on success and tune out distractions provided by home-based tutoring.
